Take some time to meet some Plymouth Newcomers and Neighbors members.
The Heiner Family
Aaron and Jodi Heiner, and their sons Jamison and Gavin, have lived in the Plymouth area for almost eight years. Jodi grew up here, and Aaron is from Star Valley, Wyoming. Jamison, 9, and Gavin, 6, attend Isbister Elementary. Two cats, a bunny and a new puppy complete the family!
Aaron writes text messaging software for a communications company based in Boston, and Jodi is a stay-at-home mom. Aaron loves woodworking and bowling with the boys. Jodi enjoys reading, baking and playing flute in the Plymouth Community Band. Jamison and Gavin love to be outdoors, play video games and read (Jamison is a big fan of the Harry Potter series).
The Heiners are off to a great start in their first year as PNN members. Jodi never misses Bunco, and she and Aaron hope to make it to more Euchre games and the Book Discussion Group. The family also enjoys PNN’s Family Fun activities.
"What we like most about Newcomers is that we always feel very welcome, right from the first event we attended, which was euchre", says Kay who was an interest group leader for Euchre for two years and scrapbooking leader for a year. She has also served on the Programming and Membership committees. Currently, Kay serves as Newsletter Publisher.
“We felt a little isolated when we first moved out to Salem Township a year ago,” Jodi said. “PNN has been a great way to meet people!”
Julie Paquette
Game Night Leader
Julie Paquette of Novi is PNN’s newest Interest Group leader. Her new group—Game Night—will meet for the first time on March 7th.
Julie and her husband, Jason, moved to Novi in 2002 from Redford. They both grew up in southeast Michigan and met in a peculiar place—the Taco Bell drive-thru—when they were 18! The couple attended Michigan State University (Go Green!), and Julie went to law
school at Wayne State University. Today she is an attorney focusing on business law and estate planning. Jason is an engineer at Ford. Julie plays soccer a few nights a week and loves outdoor activities like kayaking and camping.
Julie and Jason joined Newcomers last year and really enjoy participating in Euchre. They also had a great time in the Road Rally last year. Julie decided to start the Game Night group because she loves to play
games but can’t ever seem to get a group together at the last minute because of everyone’s busy schedules. Now, with some advance notice, she hopes to have a good turnout for this unstructured get-together with a variety of game choices and no money on the line.
